A Southern Girl...

Shelley Rose Ozbirn - Artist

Since I was a young kid, I have always been creating something.

In 1995, I gave painting a try and created the prettiest little acrylic painting called "Sunflower Hill".  All of a sudden I was in love with painting again! A friend of mine talked me into taking a watercolor class, and ever since that media has become my favorite. You just can't beat the brilliance of watercolor paint as it hits the water and spreads across the page. However, I do venture into acrylic, oil and mixed media because I like to change things up a bit. My style of mixed media is more like watercolor because I wet the canvas with water and pour on the acrylic paint.

My favorite subject to paint is the Mississippi landscape. Using bold, vivid color to make the subjects stand out is my signature style. You can find artworks featuring barns, cotton fields, sunflowers, florals, old stores and southern nostalgia among my collectons.
